MINI SOCCER NEXT SEASON (08/09)
The FA have made changes to mini soccer rules that will effect the way teams and leagues are structured in the future. These are highlighted changes copied direct from the latest STANDARD CODE OF RULES which all leagues have to adhere to
1 To play in a KO Cup game or a game where points are awarded, or results collected, a player must have achieved the age of 8 on or before 31st August.
2 For Mini-Soccer – The maximum duration of play shall be two halves of 20 minutes each way.
The maximum playing time in any one day for under 7 and under 8 age groups is 40 minutes and for under 9 and under 10 age groups is 60 minutes.
3 In Mini Soccer points can only be awarded for Under 9 Competitions onwards.
Changes 1 & 3 have a big effect on U8 & 9's
Under 8: Changes 1 & 3 mean results cannot be recorded for U8's therefore no league table. The MNYL propose to run the U8's as last season with all players receiving medals and an end of season tournament. Also teams will be required to award "Sporting Points" to their opposition with a trophy awarded to the winner
Under 9: Change 1 means teams will be restricted to players who are 8 years of age on or before 31st August please be aware of this rule when recruiting players.
The MNYL are proposing to change U9 & 10's to home and away matches 20 minutes each way
If you have any queries on these changes please get in touch by phone or email 01485 529339
